*Accuses Governor of converting state properties to private business

Tunde Opalana, Abuja

A chieftain of the All Progressives Congress (APC) and Coordinator, Concerned Progressive Stakeholders (CPS), Garus Gololo has condemned Benue State governor, Samuel Ortom for utterances described as reckless and unguarded against the person of President Muhammadu Buhari.

This is also as Gololo alleged that the governor has been converting state properties to personal use while asserting that Ortom is a “serial failure” in governance.

The party chieftain in a statement made available to journalists in Abuja on Wednesday was apparently reacting to the recent remarks on Live television by the Benue State governor, where he accused President Muhammadu Buhari of plans to exterminate Benue people.

He described such statement as “reckless, irresponsible and proof of lack of leadership.”

Gololo said it was “disenchanting for a state executive who had squandered the commonwealth of the state building personal enterprises within and outside Nigeria to constantly run to the media to camouflage his incompetence.

“We are aware of the businesses he had setup in China, which are managed by his sister.

“He should tell Benue people the source of the money he used in setting up these enterprises which were not in existence prior to 2015 when he came into office.”

The APC Chieftain added that, “Ortom should understand that in as much as he is playing politics, President Buhari is not his mate whether in age, career, or in any sense of it.

“So, to reduce the federal government to Buhari, asking him to come and kill the Benue people in order to make way for grazing routes amounts to stupidity and recklessness of the highest order.

“As such, the Presidency should not dignify it with a response. Rather, it should allow those outside who understands the workings of government respond accordingly to Ortom.”

Furthermore, Gololo challenged the Governor to explain why he converted Modern Market, Adeke Industrial Layout, Naka route, Air force base and Guma, all public facilities developed by his predecessors, to his personal properties.

The statement also accused Ortom of having nothing on ground to show for the humongous federal allocation enjoyed by the state since 2015.
