IN PICS: Galloway and Ridley join thousands at Cape Town Palestine march
Thousands of pro-Palestinian demonstrators gathered in Sea Point in Cape Town on Saturday for a mass march calling for an end to Israel’s military campaign in Gaza, and expressing solidarity with the Palestinian people.
The march comes against the backdrop of the continuing humanitarian crisis in Gaza, where civilians continue to face the effects of violence, displacement and widespread damage to homes and essential infrastructure.
United Nations humanitarian reports have highlighted ongoing shortages of medical supplies, shelter and other essential goods, as well as restrictions affecting the delivery of humanitarian assistance.
Among those joining the demonstration were British politician George Galloway and journalist Yvonne Ridley, who are in South Africa as part of their “People Power Tour”.
The pair joined demonstrators along the Sea Point promenade, where crowds carried Palestinian flags and placards and voiced their support for Palestinians.
