Details In Glen-View Couple Bedroom Deaths

By Crime and Courts Reporter | Police in Harare are investigating the deaths of a married couple who were found in their bedroom at their home in Glen View 3 on Wednesday, amid reports that they had been experiencing marital problems.

The deceased have been identified by police as Nyasha Mhungu, 35, and his wife, Olga Muzhingi, 30. National police spokesperson Commissioner Paul Nyathi confirmed that the couple were found dead in their bedroom and said investigators were pursuing leads following reports of a marital dispute.

Police have not publicly established how the couple died or whether one was responsible for the other’s death. The scene was secured as investigators collected evidence, with post-mortem examinations expected to assist in determining the cause of death.

New details reported on Thursday indicate that the couple had reportedly sought counselling from their church leader shortly before their deaths. H-Metro, through The Herald, also reported that police recovered several items from the bedroom, including an axe, a shambok, Olga’s cellphone and a stool reportedly stained with blood. The reports did not establish that the axe was used in the deaths.

Family members and neighbours have described marital difficulties, while some reports have raised allegations of an infidelity dispute. These accounts remain unverified allegations, and police have not publicly confirmed that infidelity was the cause of the deaths.

Reports also indicate that one of the couple’s children discovered the bodies and alerted relatives. However, details surrounding exactly what happened inside the bedroom remain unclear and are part of the police investigation.

The case comes amid other recent domestic violence-related deaths in Harare, but authorities have not indicated that the incidents are connected.
