Osun election: Adeleke maintains lead as 331 of 332 wards reported

Governor Ademola Adeleke has maintained his lead in the ongoing Osun State governorship election, as results from almost all the wards across the state continue to be collated.

A check by Vanguard on the Independent National Electoral Commission’s (INEC) Result Viewing Portal (IReV) showed that results from 331 of the 332 wards in the state had been reported, while 93.47 per cent of polling-unit results had so far been captured.

According to the latest figures displayed on the election results dashboard, Adeleke, the Accord Party candidate and incumbent governor, has polled 461,876 votes, representing 49.7 per cent of the valid votes recorded so far.

His closest challenger, Bola Oyebamiji of the All Progressives Congress (APC), has secured 404,713 votes, representing 43.6 per cent.

Adeleke is therefore ahead of Oyebamiji by 57,163 votes, based on the results currently reflected on the IReV results dashboard checked by Vanguard.

The African Democratic Congress (ADC) candidate, Najeem Salaam, is in third place with 15,685 votes, while Olanrewaju Farinloye of the Action Alliance (AA) has so far recorded 4,889 votes.

The figures indicate a closely contested race between Adeleke and Oyebamiji, with the incumbent currently holding the advantage as the collation process moves towards completion.

The latest voter statistics displayed on the dashboard show approximately 928,500 valid votes and 20,200 rejected votes from about 954,900 accredited voters. The reported turnout stands at approximately 44 per cent of registered voters.

However, the figures remain provisional, as the final outcome can only be established after all outstanding results have been duly collated and the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) completes the official declaration.

For now, Adeleke remains in front, with Oyebamiji in second place and a margin of 57,163 votes separating the two leading candidates based on the results currently available on IReV.
