The 54th National Day Celebration in Ndop, Ngoketunjia division of the North west region stood out as a symbol of resilience, unity and renewed hope.

Focus at this year’s National day event was on the youths. Speaker after speaker took the stage, calling on young people to shun deviant behaviors, take unity, peace and local development seriously. In the words of Handerson Kangeh, the Senior Divisional Officer who presided the ceremony ; “peace has no price. Our youths must reject violence, and actively contribute to restoring stability and peace in Ngoketunjia”, he said.

Echoing similar statements, the Member of Parliament for Ngoketunjia North and Quaestor at the National Assembly, Hon. Njingum Musa Mbutoh underscored the urgent need for peace, unity and responsible citizenship in the division and the North west region at large. He emphasized that “the crisis has done more harm than good for our population”. Hon. Njingum Musa also stressed the urgency for a complete stop to hostilities and a total embrace of peace unconditionally. As he put it “it is only in a peaceful and serene atmosphere that we all can go about our daily activities boldly and succeed”.

The event in Ndop was marked by various articulations including a symbolic march with peace plants. This was led by the Hon. Njingum Musa himself alongside other stake holders in the division.

The celebration also witnessed the great participation of CPDM militants who came in huge numbers to attest their attachment to their party, its national President Paul Biya and his vision for Cameroon.

An impressive public participation of cultural displays and intense moments of reunion strengthened communal bonds. Hon. Njingum reassured then population and called them to their shared responsibility to the common growth and success of the area.

The 54th National day celebration thus availed the population the opportunity to celebrate not only patriots but also their renewed commitment to look forward in peace, unity, and to actively partake in sustainable development.
