(english & french versions)These last years, you have been very present in various exhibitions in Egypt, especially in Cairo. Do you think your paintings are representative of an Egyptian school of painting or are more widely involved in a major movement?

Art has no nationality, any artist influence with the place he comes from or lives at. Egypt has a great civilization and a history in art. Me as an Egyptian artist benefit a lot of studying the ancient Egyptian art through different ages. My art has an important basic that I work on that the Egyptian art affect my art personality. I create contemporary art depending on my culture, education, Egyptian history and my vision.


There is a deep difference between your drawings and your paintings. It seems they are done by two different artists. How can you explain this?

That is a good question. I don’t deal with my art in this way that painting, drawing and …etc cause every artwork I create have the spirit of me. I create art and you will notice now that I started to use mixed media in most of my artworks that I mix between painting and drawing in the last artworks I do but sometimes I like to make an artwork with the old style as a painting or drawing. I like to create art whatever you like to call.




Do you feel special fears when you paint? Are your paintings related to an other world or only to an other vision of our world?

I don’t understand what fears you mean but when any artist work he could forget any fear and clear his mind to create. The talent also has a role in that.

My art related to my vision about everything. You could know me through my art.



What are you looking for when you use such distortions in your paintings?

I use these distortions as it uses me! To figure out the soul inside the person or the object I paint is better than to paint the outside shape we see with our eyes. I believe that I make art to discover what the eye can’t see.



Your drawings show a perfect skill of the art of portrait. Each portrait seems to be realised from the very inside of the model. What is your conception of the portrait?

That’s what I was saying, I draw a portrait to figure out its spirit not to just draw him, also the photography when I use a camera to capture a certain moment I don’t depend on the camera it self but I depend on my vision to this moment. That’s my concept in art of portrait.

Ces dernières années, vous avez été très présent dans plusieurs expositions en Egypte et plus particulièrement au Caire. Pensez-vous que vos œuvres sont représentatives d’une école égyptienne de peinture ou qu’elles s’inscrivent plus largement dans un mouvement plus vaste ?

L’art n’a pas de nationalité. Tout artiste est influencé par l’endroit d’où il vient et où il vit. L’Egypte a connu une civilisation et une histoire de l’art particulièrement remarquables. En tant qu’égyptien, j’ai moi-même largement bénéficié des enseignements de l’art égyptien à ses diverses périodes. Mon art a puisé aux sources de l’art égyptien, et, par conséquent, ma formation a naturellement affecté ma personnalité d’artiste.
Aujourd’hui, je représente un art contemporain qui est la synthèse de ma culture, de mon éducation, de l’histoire de mon pays et de ma vision personnelle.


Il existe une importante différence entre vos dessins et vos peintures. Les uns et les autres donnent l’impression d’avoir été réalisés par deux artistes différents. Comment l’expliquez-vous ?

C’est une très bonne question. Je marchande pas avec mon art en ce sens que peindre, dessiner, créer font en sorte que chaque oeuvre que je crée recèle mon esprit. Je crée de l’art et vous remarquerez maintenant que j’ai commencé à utiliser des techniques mixtes dans la plupart de mes œuvres, que je mêle peinture et dessin dans mes dernières œuvres.
